48 Hour Film Challenge 2025
What is the 48-hour Film Challenge?
A chance to challenge your filmmaking and teamwork skills!
You’ll be given forty-eight hours to shoot and edit a short film, whether by yourself or as part of a crew comprising no more than ten people. The Challenge is open to all, regardless of experience, and can be shot on anything from a phone to a high-end camera; the only requirement is that at least one member of your team is a resident of Kent.

Sign-up deadline: 3pm, Fri 26 Sep
Competition goes live: 5pm Fri 26 Sep
Delivery deadline: 5pm Sun 28 Sep
Screening & Awards at the Ashford Cinema: 7pm Sun 12 Oct
How do I enter?
Just fill out the sign-up form to register your interest in participating. Once you’ve submitted your form, you’ll receive a Brief at 5pm on the 26th of September with further details. This kicks off your 48 hours!
What happens next?
The brief will be released to teams who have registered for the competition by email.
You’ll need to submit your film to an email address that will be provided to you in the brief by 5pm on Sunday 28 September.
Note – you will need to allow upload time to submit the film so check all the links provided carefully to ensure your are familiar with the process and well prepared. Any submissions after 5pm Sunday won’t be considered!

Next, our panel of expert judges will carefully review the submitted films and assess based on their creativity and originality.
All of the submitted films will be screened at a local community studio, and shortlisted films will be screened at The Ashford Cinema.
The prize for 1st Place is free hire of professional filming equipment valued at £500. Other prizes, certificates, and trophies will be announced in due course and will be awarded by Screen Ashford and Screen South.
