Showcase: Fri 30th May, 6pm – 7pm (followed by Networking)

We want to hear your ideas for a music video of no more than 4 minutes which could be shot and edited in a week, and which must include some element of digital creativity, whether green screen, infinity cove, 360° video or another digital format. Each video will need to be shot in one day (8-hour shooting day) and edited in 3 days.

We’re excited to hear from musicians and bands from any genre of music (from punk to classical), but you must apply with an original composition to which you own all rights. The track needs to be recorded and mastered by the time you make the video.

Tracks submitted must not be restricted by any third party that will prevent you from releasing the track and video on the 30th of May as part of the Music Videos in May Showcase and online release.

If we select you and your track, we’ll match you with a suitable director and editor to shoot and edit the video in May. 

You’re also welcome to apply as part of a team comprising band/musician and video director if there’s someone you want to work with, but this is not obligatory.

We’d also like to hear from any Directors and/or Editors who might want to get involved and are up for turning visions into reality. Don’t worry if you haven’t worked on music videos before – all we’re after is someone who has great ideas and is a strong collaborator!

how to apply

A link to the track you’d make the video for – this can be a rough recording in the first instance but in that case, please also tell us how and where you’ll record the master track
A written treatment and/or storyboard showing your plans for the video in as much detail as possible, including some information on scheduling which demonstrates confidence that you could film the video in a day
Information on your preferred director and/or editor, if you have one
Confirmation of your availability for the dates listed in Dates & Schedule below

This isn’t our first rodeo – Music Videos in May first took place back last year in partnership between Screen South and Seaview Studios. Five fantastic artists were chosen for their unique ideas and brilliant tracks to create music videos supported by experienced crew and hi-tech equipment, courtesy of Screen South.
