Launch of annual Short Film Competition for Relate Oxfordshire

This week sees the launch of Relate Oxfordshire’s first annual Short Film Competition. Visit www.relatefilmfestival.org.uk. Budding film makers or experienced veterans of the silver screen are invited to submit short films on the topic of “Love in the Time of Twitter”, based on the premise that the recent revolution in electronic and social media has impacted on all areas of modern life, including our most intimate relationships.

Information about the Short Film Competition is being disseminated worldwide, and some exciting and unusual entries are anticipated. Screening and judging the shortlist of films will take place on Friday 12th October 2012 at Chipping Norton Theatre as part of a two day Film Festival, and the film which wins will be the one which has most convincingly harnessed the power of film in highlighting current trends in human relationships.

In establishing a yearly Film Competition and Festival, Relate Oxfordshire aims to communicate what it does in a fun way to a wider audience. And also to raise much-needed funds so that it can go on supporting the increasing number of people who can’t afford to pay for help. The mission is to develop and support relationships by helping couples, families and individuals to make relationships work better, and by delivering inclusive, high-quality services that are relevant at every stage of life. Relate also helps both the public and policymakers to improve their understanding of relationships, and what makes them flourish.

Relate is the UK’s largest provider of relationship counselling and sex therapy. Their vision is a future in which healthy relationships form the heart of a thriving society. As a member of the Relate Federation, the local organisation has provided counselling services in the county for nearly sixty years. Relate Oxfordshire provides these benefits in Oxford, Banbury, Abingdon, Bicester, Thame and Witney.

Although Relate Oxfordshire depends on financial contributions from clients to continue to provide its services, as a charity it is totally committed to helping anyone in need, regardless of their ability to pay.

The closing date for submissions to the Short Film competition is 30th July 2012. Information and regular updates will be added to the website over the coming months. Follow developments on Facebook and Twitter by using the links at the top of the home page. www.relatefilmfestival.org.uk
