The Project
This multi-million Euro project will create an online network of Editing and Post Production (EPP) specialists across the South East of England for research and innovation in the manipulation of screen-based images for television, film, gaming, advertising, and corporate communications. This can include ‘Pre-visualisation’ techniques or post live-action shoot adjustments using animation, Visual Effects (VFX) and Computer-Generated Imagery (CGI). The project will be based in the South East Local Enterprise Partnership area in three production Hubs. Each Hub will have a studio, two edit suites, a co-working space; and fast internet connection and cloud computing to enable SMEs to extend their client base nationally and internationally. The three hubs will be located at Folkestone’s Glassworks Centre (Screen South leading), at the new Creative Arts Building at Canterbury Christchurch University (CCCU leading), and at Maidstone TV Studios (LSBU leading). These are the partners; and London South Bank University is leading the consortium.

The School has internationally recognised research and enterprise excellence in science and technology blended with the creative arts. We work with some of the capital’s major art, media and performance institutions through collaborative grants and research funding. This project extends our reach across the SE of England. The role will be based at our campus just behind London’s South Bank Cultural district. The Role
The Technology Manager, Maidstone Studios, will work to the Project Manager and Technology Manager of the Maidstone Hub. The work with mostly lie within the Maidstone Studios production centre (https://www.maidstonestudios.com/) but there will be occasional events at Southend, Hastings, and London South Bank University. The Maidstone team will work under the Project Coordinator who will oversee all three Hubs and the online network connecting all the centres. The Community Manager role is to engage with Small to Medium-sized businesses, industry specialists and university researchers who will undertake research, development, and innovation. He/she will maintain the Maidstone Studios, liaising with the Maidstone Studios staff where necessary, and the data centre. He/she will ensure the good running of the studio, production spaces, two edit suites, and online production facilities (cloud computing, online production tools, and live streaming between all sites). The technology Manager will also assist the Community Manager and Project Manager where they may need to access technical facilities (project website and social media). The Technology Managers from the Folkestone and Canterbury Hubs will meet regularly with the post-holder to co-support.

As there are a lot of events to manage and deliver for this post for the foreseeable future and at least until spring / summer 2021, these events will be delivered online and this requires experience of delivering events and workshops online.

Your profile
You will be an experienced studio manager/technician passionate film & television, and pre and post production. You will be highly interested in the Creative Industries, and also emerging technologies such as immersive media. You will be experienced in contemporary delivery and production, for example, live streaming, cloud computing and online production tools. This calls for a sufficient level of expertise in both broadcast and computing technologies. You will be used to problem-solving and thinking on your feet. We seeking candidates who have excellent personal skills and who are used to working with small to medium-sized businesses. You will be a good team player who is able to keep the longer-term goals in mind, and a self-starter. Please see person specification for more detail.
