Open Call:
Showcase Artists 2026-2027
Screen South is inviting applications from creatives across all areas to be one of our ten annual showcase artists, to be supported to take a project currently in progress to completion and exhibition / distribution / market.
Maybe you need access to kit, use of our studio, tech advice and guidance, or simply some detailed advice to get over those final hurdles. Maybe it’s the final location for an exhibition or showcase you need. We want to support projects with their individual needs, with the intervention that means your work in progress work gets over the line and can lift off. Limited financial bursaries will be available to support selected creatives.
Who Should Apply?
We’re looking for proposals from artists based in South East England (not including London) who are using, or who would like to use, digital tools in creative formats. These could be visual, immersive or sound-based; we’re interested in seeing your proposals in any format. This call is unlikely to support linear film work; this is an opportunity primarily for digital creative work.
You must have started your project already and have a clear path to completion & showcase/exhibition/distribution within 6 months. This is not an opportunity for concepts or early stage projects; creatives looking for support with early-stage projects can see our current Digital Hub Labs & Showcases opportunities for available support. This call should be the intervention that gets your project finished, not the one that starts it off.
Dates
Round 1 (projects with a completion date before 30 March 2027)
– Applications open: Thursday 1 October 2026
– Deadline for applications: Friday 30 October 2026
Round 2
– Applications open: Monday 4 January 2027
– Deadline for applications: Friday 29 January 2027
Our Support
Our support might comprise some of these elements, depending on project needs:
· Use of Screen South equipment including cameras, computers and VR kit
· Use of Screen South studio, including green screen & infinity cove
· Access to ongoing advice from Screen South tech and project teams
· Access to exhibition space
· Marketing support
· Financial support of up to £1500
· Exhibition space in Dover
All selected showcase artists will need to acknowledge the support of Screen South and the Arts Council on all promotional materials if selected.
How To Apply
We’ll need you to send us as much information on your proposed project as possible, including, but not limited to:
· A detailed visual treatment for the project
· Sample visual or audio materials
· CV/biography including links to previous work
· A schedule of what you’ve done already and what still needs doing
· A budget for the project
· Outline of what support you need from Screen South to complete the project
