The Screen South Hi3 Immersive and XR Documentary Lab is delivered by immersive media specialists Crossover and industry guests. Creative teams will be taken on a deep-dive to fast-track documentary projects with immersive XR potential. Supported by Charlie Phillips, Screen South’s new Hi3 Programme Manager, all participants will receive expert guidance & mentorship. The Lab will run from Tuesday October 18th to Thursday October 20th 2022.
This programme will give participants the opportunity to get hands on with some of the best examples of immersive factual work internationally and receive bespoke mentoring in order to hone their concepts and leave with a pitch-ready proposal. Project teams will be further supported to develop their projects post-event to maintain momentum.
Your idea should have a factual basis to it, but we will interpret this liberally, and are keen to see any creative interpretation of reality using technology, whether you’re working on VR, a game, an app, an audio project, a virtual live event, or something else.
Some examples of great documentary/factual storytelling projects in the immersive space are:
Child of Empire, 6×9, Messages to a post human Earth, Kubo Walks the City, Ravi and Emma, The Sound Voice Project Grains of Recollection, and Museum of Austerity
You can apply as an individual, although we also encourage applying as part of a team, with members of the team working across different creative disciplines.
Your ideas could be placed anywhere on the spectrum of documentary/factual media, and we’re interested in seeing projects at any stage, from concept to in production. We don’t mind if you’re at an early/concept, or late/production stage.
Your idea can be using creative technology to tell a story in any format on any platform.
Please note, applicants must be a member of the Hi3 Network to apply for this opportunity. If you are not a Hi3 member, please click here to find out more about the Hi3 and how you can become a member for FREE.
We will be selecting 6 project teams, and assessing applications based on the strength of ideas submitted. We want to know what your idea is and what your ambitions for it are, what stage you’re at, what IP rights you have, and who you’re working with.
After application, there’ll be a brief interview process in the week of September 19th. Final project selections will be made by Monday 26th September.
