Sir Quentin, perhaps best known for illustrating many Roald Dahl books generously donated 10 original artworks for sale to support Screen South’s Accentuate programme through the Artist Support Pledge.
After a week long event of Instagram posts, the Quentin Blake art sale has now sadly ended and we wanted to thank everyone who showed such great interest and support. We realise many of you will be disappointed, as there was much more interest than the number of works available. In many instances works were selling within one second of posting!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Sir Quentin again for his hugely generous donation. The proceeds of the sales of this work will go directly to Accentuate and an exciting new project that we will be announcing next week. If you were unable to buy a work but are keen to support Accentuate in championing the talents of D/deaf and disabled artists, filmmakers and curators, please do go to the Accentuate page of the Screen South website to learn more about us and perhaps donate to our work.
Also if you are keen to buy works by Sir Quentin Blake and support another good cause, please do consider buying works from Hastings Contemporary. As works become available they will be sold via their online shop.
This campaign was part of the Artist Support Pledge initiative. All artists sell their work for a maximum of £200 and once they have sold four works, they pledge to buy another artists work for £200, therefore creating a sustainable and generous arts ecology. This movement has been so successful that certain charities are now also being featured and supported through this initiative.
We would like to thank Matthew Burrows for highlighting Accentuate as his charity for support. Please do consider buying other works from a range of artists via this initiative.
